Michael C. Trachtenberg, Ph.D.
CEO/CTO
Michael Trachtenberg is the Chairman, CEO and Chief Technical Officer of Carbozyme. He founded the company in 1991 as a Delaware S corporation. In 1997 Carbozyme was converted to a Delaware C corporation. Since 1994 Dr. Trachtenberg and his group, via Carbozyme and affiliated companies, have successfully won $10.4M in open competition funding from U.S. agencies to support these membrane development projects.
Dr. Trachtenberg has been a principal investigator and research director for over 30 years. He is the author of over 120 publications – papers, books and abstracts - and has received three patents in addition to a number of patent applications currently under review. He regularly presents at national and international scientific/technical meetings.
Prior to founding Carbozyme Dr. Trachtenberg co-founded NeuroGenesis, Inc. a neutraceutical company focused on the psychopharmacology of addictive diseases. At NeuroGenesis he served as VP of Research and Development. Dr. Trachtenberg has been a consultant to NASA working on sustaining humans in space. In addition, he has held faculty positions at Harvard Medical School, Boston University School of Medicine and the University of Texas Medical Branch and has been Director of both Neurological and Neurosurgical Research.
Dr. Trachtenberg holds a B.A. in Psychology and Biology from the City University of New York and a Ph.D. in Anatomy and Neurobiology from UCLA.
